Showcase your film talent on the big screen this summer!

Have you made a short film this year?
Would you like to see it play on the big screen?

Starlight Cinema has an opportunity for you this summer. If your film was made after 1 December 2007, is 8 minutes or less in length including titles and can be shown in 35mm film or DVD format, we invite you to enter. Your film could be one of 28 seen at Starlight Cinema this summer.

Our judges, led by cinematographer, Anna Howard, will select 28 films, one to be shown each night with our feature film at Starlight Cinema.

Why should you enter?
You could win a cash prize plus camera equipment, courses and studio time for first, second or third prize awarded by our judges or the Audience Award prize voted by our audiences.
You could see your film on our big screen during the season and on the finals night, Sunday 1 March. Starlight Cinema has a fabulous 16m x 8m inflatable screen.
You can have your family, friends and filmmaking colleagues see your work along with our Starlight Cinema patrons.

Entry Criteria
If your film fulfills all the following criteria, then please send it to us for your chance to be seen on the big screen. We would love to see it and show it if it is selected.
It is no longer than 8 minutes including credits;
It was made after 1 December 2007;
You have secured the broadcast rights for all material (including music) and cast.
Your entry is accompanied by an entry form and entry fee.

How to Enter
1. Read the terms and conditions of entry.
2. Complete our entry form, print it for your records and submit it to us.
3. Send us three copies of your film on DVD accompanied by your signed entry form, a synopsis of the film for publicity purposes, two production shots and your entry fee cheque or money order for $25.00 made payable to High As A Keyte.
4. Send your entry to: Starlight Cinema, PO Box 370, Balgowlah NSW 2093. Emailed material will not be accepted.

Closing Date
Entries for Starlight Shorts must be received by 5.00pm on Friday 19 December 2008. Late entries will not be accepted.

First Prize
$1,000 cash plus AFTRS Short Film Course  
Second Prize

$500 cash plus 1 day at Sandcastle Studios

Third Prize

$250 cash plus Lenovo multimedia SL500 ThinkPad

Audience Award   

$250 cash plus 1 day at Sandcastle Studios

Film Judging
All valid entries will be viewed by our judges prior to Monday 5 January 2009. 28 films will be selected for screening during the Starlight Cinema season. If your film is selected you will be notified of the date of your screening so that you can invite your family and friends along. Ten films will be selected from this 28 to be shown at a special Finals screening of Starlight Shorts at North Sydney Oval on Sunday 1 March. Our judges will be present to decide and announce the prize winners along with the Audience Award recipient. Our judges are Cinematographer, Anna Howard (Chair); Director, Cathy Randall (Hey Hey It's Esther Blueburger).
